Terms of Service

You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EEA unless a parent consents, 14 in mainland China unless a guardian consents) and able to form a binding contract. If you use Lirami on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you may accept these terms for it.

You can use much of Lirami without an account; your data then stays on your device. If you create one, keep your sign-in details secure and tell us through the contact form if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account. You can delete it at any time from the Account page.

The Free plan is free with daily limits that we may change. The paid Plus plan removes those limits and adds features described on the Pricing page, which shows the current price and billing period.

• Plus renews automatically at the end of each monthly or yearly period, and is charged to your payment method through our payment processor, Stripe, until you cancel.
• You can cancel at any time from the Account page. You keep Plus until the end of the period you have paid for; it then stops renewing.
• If it is your first Plus subscription, you can ask for a full refund within 14 days of your first payment: contact us from the email address on your account. We refund the payment to the original payment method and end Plus straight away. This applies once per person, and not to renewals.
• Otherwise payments are non-refundable, including for partly used periods, except where the law gives you a right to cancel and receive a refund, or where we decide otherwise. If you think you were charged by mistake, contact us.
• We may change the price of Plus. A new price applies from your next renewal, and we will tell you before it takes effect so you can cancel first.
• If a payment fails, Stripe will retry it for a while; if it still fails, your account moves back to the Free plan.
• Prices may not include taxes, which are added where required.

You can connect your own API key for a supported AI provider. Requests you make with it are sent to that provider under your own agreement with them, and any fees they charge are yours. Keep the key safe; it is stored on your device, not on our servers.

Readings, translations, grammar explanations, drills and dictionary glosses are generated automatically by AI models and data sources and may contain mistakes. Lirami is a study aid, not a certified course or an authority on any language. Don't rely on it for anything important — such as legal, medical or official translations — without checking with a qualified source. Readings are fiction written for language practice; any resemblance to real people or events is unintended.

Text you import, and the notes and progress you create, remain yours. You give us a limited licence to store, process and display that content only to provide Lirami to you, including sending it to the AI and translation providers described in our Privacy Policy. Only import text you have the right to use, and don't import other people's personal information. We may remove content that breaks these terms.

Don't:

• break the law or infringe anyone's rights while using Lirami;
• try to get around plan limits, rate limits or security measures, or access other users' data;
• scrape Lirami, resell it, or use it to build a competing service or train AI models;
• use automated scripts to send large numbers of requests, or otherwise overload or disrupt Lirami;
• use Lirami to generate content that is illegal, hateful, sexually explicit or harmful.

Lirami's software, design and original content belong to us and are protected by law. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use them, including the desktop apps, for your own learning. Dictionary and word-list data come from open sources such as Wiktionary and remain under their own licences — see Credits.

We are improving Lirami constantly and may add, change or remove features. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or where the law requires it; where reasonable we will tell you first. If we close Lirami entirely, we will give notice and refund any prepaid period that remains.

Lirami is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that Lirami will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose, or that you will reach a particular language level. Some countries don't allow these exclusions, so they may not all apply to you.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or opportunities. Our total liability for any claim relating to Lirami is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and USD 50. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

These terms are governed by the laws of the place where Lirami's operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and may bring claims in its courts. Before starting a formal dispute, please contact us so we can try to resolve it informally.

We may update these terms. We will post the new version here and update the date above; for material changes we will tell signed-in users in the app at least 14 days in advance. If you keep using Lirami after the changes take effect, you accept them; if you don't, you can cancel and delete your account.

These terms, with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about Lirami. If any part is unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term right away, we haven't waived it. You may not transfer these terms; we may transfer them as part of a reorganisation or sale of the business. Questions?
